about

The disaffectedly in-touch “Ivory Box” release by Pittsburgh-based industrial synth scientist m. bellaire features a selection of deliciously desolate, post-human sonic environments. Engaging and relatable in (the terrifying reality of) modern nature, bellaire packages in “The Ivory Box” precision-crafted dark electronic chill-out gems - a highlight track in the form of the sweet, cool “Splinter,” caressed by the lilting timbre of a female voice. “Marble Blocks” features bellaire’s own vocals - a consistent heady, pitchy drone not dissimilar from Ian Curtis - against a Eurythmics’ bastard-child backdrop. Rounding out the catalog is the 8-minute soundtrack “In Shadows of the Trees,” smartly displacing sandpaper beats, while woodwind-esque bit-synths draw you deeper in curiosity into the dark.
